UTS Music.Sound.Design Symposium 2008 performances

Evening performances

Alongside the daytime program of panel presentations, keynotes and workshops the UTS Music.Sound.Design Symposium 2008 featured 2 evenings of performance at the ABC on Harris St on Thursday February 14 and Friday February 15, with both evenings starting at 8pm sharp.

Thursday February 14 from 8pm

  • Kees Tazelaar (Netherlands), presenting one of his own pieces as well as a rendition of Edgard Varese's famous piece Poeme Electronique
  • Philip Samartzis
  • Julian Knowles
  • Donna Hewitt

Friday February 15 from 8pm

  • Yasunao Tone (Japan), performing his piece 495,63, as premiered at the Lovebytes 2007 festival
  • Darrin Verhagen
  • Robin Fox
  • Peter Blamey

Residency

In addition to the performances at the ABC, over the course of the symposium Robin Fox was in residence at the new UTS Interaction Studio in the DAB Building on Harris St working on his new installation Raum, a work focused on examining constructions of space with the use of lasers trigged by digital sound. He conducted a showing of the work from 6:00pm on Wednesday February 13.
