Research centres

The Faculty's Research Centres are focal points for specialized research, scholarship, short courses and services. Industry partnership arrangements with the Centres are supported and encouraged by the Faculty.

Transforming Cultures

is a Key University Research Centre in Communication and Culture which conducts research within the broad areas of 'cultural studies', 'social enquiry' and 'new media'.

Australian Centre for Independent Journalism

activities include professional partnerships and research into all areas of journalism, the publication of investigative journalism, short courses in journalism and the media, and contributions to debates on areas of concern to journalists.

Australian Centre for Public Communication

provides a focus for research, debate and dissemination of knowledge about ideas, issues and events in public communication and promotes ethical practice in all areas of public communication including advertising, public relations and corporate and organisational communication.

Australian Centre for Public History

promotes and researches the practice and understanding of public history in both the academy and community. The Centre also undertakes community collaborations and commissioned projects.

UTS Centre For New Writing

promotes and supports research into new forms of writing and provides an external identity for research students. It offers a range of short courses in creative writing and publishing.

Centre for Media Arts Innovation

produces and analyses the established forms of cinema, radio/sound, television/video and installation at the same time as it concentrates on the interactive and locative media that are now emerging because of digital technology.
