About the Journalism program area
Many of Australia's acclaimed journalists were educated at UTS, a leader in journalism education over three decades. Our comprehensive program comprises undergraduate degrees, including combined degrees with international studies and law, several large postgraduate courses, honours and research degrees (please view our complete list of Journalism courses), as well as a continuing education program for people working in the communication and related industries and those interested in developing communication and media skills.
UTS Journalism includes streams in print, radio, television and online journalism as well as investigative, political and specialist reporting subjects. The emphasis is on developing journalists who are innovative, reflective and have a strong understanding of the role of journalism and the contexts in which it is practised in Australia and internationally. Our student work is regularly published in UTS Journalism online and print publications such as Precinct, Reportage and Festival News as well as mainstream and specialist newspapers and magazines.
Our staff are all experienced journalists, many of whom continue to produce journalism as part of their research activities. The Australian Centre for Independent Journalism at UTS links staff and students with journalists, the media and the public to support and produce high quality journalism and scholarly research.
