Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the degree being changed?
The new BA in Communication is being updated as a response to the increasing demands of our current global media industry. The revised BA in Communication builds on its existing strengths of professional and creative theory and practice subjects, enabling graduates to develop and excel in their chosen area of communication.

I hope to start the BA in Communication in 2009 - will I be doing the current or revised BA in Communication?
If you are a student commencing the BA in Communication in 2009 you will enrol in the revised version of the degree. The only commencing students who won't enrol in the updated BA in Communication in 2009 are those with an 'approved articulation arrangement' from completing a diploma at another institution such as INSEARCH or TAFE.

I am enrolled in a communication course at another university and plan to apply through UAC for the BA in Communication in 2009. Will I get any advanced standing for the subjects I've already done?
Students who commence a communication course at another university in 2008 and decide to apply for the BA in Communication in 2009 will receive advanced standing for a maximum of 24 credit points (one semester) of electives in their new course based on subjects they have already completed.

What do I do if I want to change from one course to another course in the BA in Communication?
Rather than try to change courses unnecessarily students are usually given advice about ways they can tailor their current course to help them develop a career in their area of interest.
